The Knuckles Mountain Range is located in central Sri Lanka, in the Districts of Matale and Kandy. The range takes its name since resembles the knuckles of clenched fist when viewed from certain locations in the Kandy District. This name is assigned as the Knuckles mountains by British Surveyors during the colonial era, but the Sinhalese residents call the area as Dumbara Kanduvetiya meaning Mist-laden Mountain Range. This mountain range is of great scientific value. The higher elevations are known to have a range of isolated cloud forests, and home to a variety of flora and fauna and rich in its biodiversity.
Kumana National Park is the sixth largest park in Sri Lanka.Kumana Bird Sanctuary, declared in 1938, is included within the Kumana National Park. From October to April tens of thousands of birds migrate to the Kumana swamp area. Rare species such as black-necked stork, lesser adjutant, Eurasian spoonbill, and great thick-knee are breeding inhabitants.
Negombo, is located 37 Km North of the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, 10 Km from the Bandaranaike International airport, by the mouth of the Negombo lagoon. The city plays home to a humble and religious population of 144,551 consisting of mainly Catholics. In contrast to the peace and calm of the lagoon, Negombo is also home to one of the most popular beaches on the Western Coast with its white waves rhythmically crashing against its shore.
Bentota city is located 65 Km South of Colombo, in the Galle District, in the southern province of Sri Lanka. It is considered as one of the most popular palm fringed sunny beach resorts in the island. It is also a popular destination for water based activities in the Bentota river which lies in the Northern most side of the city.
